Welcoming Julio, Structural Manager Christchurch
Deepening our commitment to sustainable structural design

We’re pleased to welcome Julio, a structural engineer with a strong focus on sustainable design, leadership, and collaboration. Julio brings extensive technical expertise and a passion for integrating sustainability into every stage of project delivery — from early concept through to construction.
Julio’s approach is grounded in aligning people and purpose. He’s known for bringing together diverse stakeholders around shared project goals, ensuring outcomes that balance structural performance, environmental responsibility, and long-term value. Beyond project work, Julio is actively contributing to the advancement of sustainable engineering across the industry. He serves on SESOC’s Management Committee, SESOC’s Sustainable Design Task Force, and the IABSE TG6.7 international working group, which focuses on the mitigation and transition towards carbon neutrality. His involvement in these groups strengthens our own commitment to continuous improvement and low-carbon innovation.
Julio believes that successful and sustainable projects are built on empathy, teamwork, and a genuine care for people — values that align closely with how we work at Kirk Roberts.
Outside the office, Julio enjoys challenging himself through CrossFit, exploring creative outlets like acting and writing, and discovering new coffee spots around Christchurch.
We’re excited to have Julio on board and look forward to the energy and expertise he brings to our structural team as we continue to grow our capability in sustainable design.
