3D Printing Innovation – a first in New Zealand
In an incredible New Zealand first, is a house that’s been entirely 3D printed!
Built in Paremoremo, Auckland this was our Kirk Robert’s team’s first 3D printed residential house using Qorox technology. It is also the biggest 3d printed building in the Southern Hemisphere.
Kirk Roberts provided geotechnical and structural engineering services for this interesting build. The team were also excited to utilise volumetric off-site manufacturing working with QOROX, a cutting-edge technology company whose building systems and processes are setting a new standard for building quality, efficiency, effectiveness, and adaptability which dramatically reduces construction timeframes.
The Paremoremo semi-rural property was built in sections, in total 63 panels which were slotted together on the countryside site and due to the lack of waste involved in the build it makes for an environmentally friendly option along with a beautiful home for the family of four.
Volumetric off-site manufacturing is where buildings are put together by connecting a series of pre-built modules. The advantage of doing this means the construction requires less heavy machinery and less energy. Transporting the finished product to the site also uses minimal vehicles, and wastage is minimised, as material requirements can be more accurately calculated, allowing the company to make savings by buying in bulk.
In 2024 this exceptionally innovative house was a finalist in the Best Awards for residential properties.
