Kauri Street and Kauri Place is the largest delivery from Kāinga Ora – Homes and Communities under the Hastings place-based housing plan and one of the many Kāinga Ora projects outside New Zealand’s main centres.

Our geotechnical engineers were engaged to provide expertise across the site and provided recommendations for the foundation design, as well as construction monitoring of the development’s one and two-storey dwellings. Many of the designs for Kāinga Ora public homes are standardised, and Kirk Roberts Consulting developed the structural designs for some of the plans in 2016. These standardised ‘Multi-Proof’ designs are widely used by Kainga Ora accelerating the design, consenting and construction processes in New Zealand.

Kauri Street has been visited by then Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern and recently received a Merit award in the Community and Affordable Housing category at the Property Industry Awards 2023.
