Supporting Efficient Public Housing Delivery in Wellington
Kirk Roberts Consulting provided structural engineering services for the Farmer Crescent Kāinga Ora development in Lower Hutt. Delivered through Kāinga Ora’s Housing Delivery System (HDS), the project forms part of the ongoing programme to deliver quality public housing using coordinated design and repeatable construction methodologies.
Our role included structural design, building consent documentation, construction monitoring and ongoing technical support throughout construction.
Practical Engineering On Site
During construction, clashes between pipe penetrations, electrical switchboards and the wall bracing shown on the original structural drawings required design adjustments.
Our engineers quickly assessed the changes and issued revised structural calculations and updated wall bracing layouts through Consultant Advice Notes (CANs), maintaining the required structural performance while accommodating site constraints with minimal disruption to the construction programme.
