Saxon Gordan Finalist 2025 ENVIS: Young Engineer Award
Saxon, our National Manager – Structures, has been named a finalist in the 2025 Young Engineer Award category of the ENVIS.

The ENVI Awards, which stand for Engineering Vision Awards, are biennial awards recognising outstanding engineering achievements and engineers. They celebrate engineering innovation, brilliance, creativity, and technical complexity across various engineering disciplines.
The Young Engineer award honours early-career engineers who demonstrate excellence in their field, strong leadership potential, and a passion for improving lives and communities through engineering. For us at Kirk Roberts, Saxon being announced as a finalist is more than a personal achievement—it’s a celebration of someone who embodies our values and has grown with us from a graduate engineer to a national leadership role.
Saxon began his career at Kirk Roberts as a graduate and steadily rose through the ranks to become Structural Manager in our Christchurch office, a role he held for four years. During this time, he guided the team through the unprecedented challenges of the COVID-19 lockdowns, always looking for ways to innovate and improve. His focus on strengthening internal systems, building a culture of trust, and setting new benchmarks in quality and performance has had a lasting impact. That impact now extends nationally—late last year, Saxon was promoted to National Manager – Structures. In this role, he has been instrumental in developing the Kirk Roberts Knowledge Base, driving innovation through the creation of technical tools, enhanced workflows, and knowledge-sharing initiatives that have elevated engineering practice across the business.
Saxon’s people-first approach has seen him excel as a leader. Early in his career, he focused on improving team dynamics and work-life balance. Today, that same mindset guides his mentoring of emerging engineers, helping them refine their technical skills, build leadership capabilities, and find purpose in their careers. On top of all of this – Saxon is a brilliant engineer and has led and contributed to a many high-profile, complex projects.
We want to congratulate Saxon on being named a finalist for the ENVIS- Young Engineer Award 2025—an outstanding achievement that reflects his dedication, innovation, and leadership within the engineering profession. We are incredibly grateful to have Saxon as part of our team and proud to have supported his journey from graduate to national leader. This recognition is a testament to the impact he continues to make at Kirk Roberts and across the wider industry. We wish him the very best of luck as he progresses through the final stages of the awards in late July.
