Kirk Robert’s South Island Regional Manager, Nik George is a Chartered Structural Engineer with over 25 years’ experience in the construction industry and has a strong multidisciplinary focus. He holds a Master of Engineering in Civil Engineering from Glasgow University and is a Chartered Member of the Institution of Structural Engineers, the Institution of Civil Engineers, and Engineering New Zealand.

Nik’s career began in the UK, where he delivered projects across most major sectors with values ranging from $0.5M to $100M. In 2012, he relocated to New Zealand to contribute to the Christchurch rebuild, and since then has played a leading role in projects across the industrial, residential, commercial, and education sectors.

With expertise spanning engineering design, project leadership, and multidisciplinary delivery, Nik has successfully led teams as both Engineer and Project Director. He is recognised for his collaborative leadership style and a “best for project” approach, ensuring clients benefit from efficient, cost-effective, and innovative solutions.

Nik has directed many significant projects across New Zealand, including the $16M New World Wairoa, the $35M Sudima Hotel in Kaikōura, the $20M Toru Apartments in Queenstown, one of New Zealand’s tallest load-bearing timber buildings, and the Railyard Commercial Development in Christchurch. His ability to guide complex, large-scale projects through challenging environments, including global supply chain disruptions, highlights his resilience and commitment to client outcomes.

Today, Nik leads Kirk Roberts’ South Island team, supporting more than 70 staff in Christchurch and five in Queenstown. His experience and leadership continue to drive the company’s multidisciplinary strength and ability to deliver across diverse sectors.
