An air traffic control approved drone brought the scale of the new Skellerup facility to life as it captured construction activity at the site of the new dairy rubberware development and manufacturing plant, which is located at Wigram Business Park, Christchurch.

Kirk Roberts is the lead engineer for the design and construction of Fonterra’s purpose built 20,000sqm storage and distribution centre.

The drystore is incorporated within the $235 million redevelopment of the company’s Pahiatua Dairy factory.

Kirk Roberts Consulting Engineers, as project partner, has won a Silver Award in the 2015 NZ Commercial Project Awards organised by the Registered  Master Builders. Named C Company   Memorial House the building commemorates the 28th Maori Battalion C Company and is the new permanent space for an exhibition which feature photos, taonga and military memorabilia.

Kirk Roberts is a finalist in the Building and Construction category of the 2014 Engineering Excellence Awards, their entry titled 'A Pres-Lam Assertion in Damage Resistant Design' is for Young Hunter House in Victoria Street, Christchurch - the first internally post-tensioned structural timber multi storey commercial building to be built in New Zealand.The Awards winners will be announced at a Gala dinner to be held in Auckland on 28 November.

An innovative stone column installation method, developed by local company McMillan Drilling, has been applied by Kirk Roberts geotechnical team for ground improvement work at the 8300 sqm Vodafone headquarter and innovation hub in central Christchurch.

Steve Roberts, geotechnical engineer and director of Kirk Roberts Consulting Engineers confirms that the new method is not only much faster to get organised on site but is vibration free which makes it ideal for congested sites.

Kirk Roberts is working on the Vodafone build through principal contractor and developer Calder Stewart Industries.
