Kirk Roberts Consulting Engineers is a multi-discipline engineering company with over 100 employees providing Structural, Geotechnical, Civil and Environmental Engineering Services, plus Project Management and Architectural Services to a range of clients across New Zealand, from our offices in Christchurch, Auckland and Tauranga.  At Kirk Roberts the heart of our business is innovation and finding a better way is why we exist.  Our company was founded to challenge the norm and push boundaries, so we can bring our clients advanced engineering & project management solutions that drive efficiencies.  Specifi, our Software branch, develops custom software solutions for the New Zealand building industry.

Reporting to the Technical Director of Specifi, you will be an integral part of a small team that is developing revolutionary residential engineering software for use by NZ architects and engineers, plus internal company software applications.

You will be adept at gathering and clarifying user requirements and translating those into functional applications.  You will have a proven track record of designing, building and maintaining efficient and reliable code to create applications that meet those user needs.  Planning and organising will be one of your strengths, plus an ability to identify and solve problems, as well as provide excellent customer service and technical support.  A high level of initiative and exceptional communication skills will also be your strengths.

You will be tertiary qualified in Information Systems, or similar, and have at least 5 years’ experience developing business software.  You will have a strong understanding of object-oriented programming and be highly proficient in C# and the .NET framework, ASP.NET MVC, Razor, Ajax and JQuery, with a skill for writing reusable C# libraries.  You will be proficient with Microsoft SQL Server and have experience with popular web frameworks such as bootstrap.  You will understand the fundamental design principles behind a scalable application and be able to create database schemas that represent and support business processes.
